I love the longevity and the style of your top! Good tank tops are so hard to come by. I have some old H&M ones from close to 20 years ago that I still wear.

Yeah I was shocked to learn that this tank top is from Reitman’s. It’s wild how some brands considered to be “fast fashion” today used to produce really solid stuff.

Your top is by Reitmans of Canada. No, I’m not magic- you can look up any CA number https://ised-isde.canada.ca/app/cb/can/public/srchFrm.html?language=eng&lang=eng. There is also a database for RN numbers on labels.

Like you, I track my wears, and love when I get a big number. I have a few pieces that I’ve had 10+ years, but I tend to cycle through them as my tastes change. Excellent article 💕.

Ah it was right there!! Thanks for the tip!

Most of my clothes are nowhere near this old, but it’s definitely satisfying having pieces like this as a benchmark of longevity. Thank you for reading!

That's such a great shape and style! I think a good tank top is really hard to find...my favourite is from 2016 and I still regret not buying one more, not realising I would never find something like it again.

Yes! Would you ever try to sew a copy or have a tailor create a duplicate?

The material is a knit with stretch (I think it's one of those "milano" knits), so I think it's beyond my sewing skills (and I don't have a machine at the moment), but if I met the right tailor, maybe! One thing it taught me is that a thicker fabric is probably most likely to hold its shape....in the past my fitted tank tops would look really worn and saggy after a couple years of wear, but this one looks great after about 8 years..

Love this reminder of how it's the pieces that just keep on keeping on that are the most loved, and therefore help to define our personal style.
