I can't even express how inspiring this was to read. I've been mindlessly shopping (half seasonal, half world-anxiety -related) and I most definitely need to insert some of your analytical edge into my wardrobe and its new arrivals!
Aw, thank you, Tiia! I can definitely relate to using shopping as an antidote to anxiety and existential dread. I hope to see how you style some of your new arrivals!
A feast indeed! I've only just started thinking about the coming change in seasons and so far have nothing beyond what outfits I would like to repeat, yet I've already started shopping 😱. I was thinking that shoes do a lot of the work for me, and figuring out which shoe complements the mood I crave (or even sets the tone entirely) is the main challenge.
I found a pair of Chelsea boots on Depop and they arrived this morning and I'm thrilled that they 100% fit the bill. I think they're basically going to be my North Star for the season -- the goal for me tentatively is to repeat my fave outfits from previous years but use the new shoes to shift the mood slightly, and take it from there.
Really interesting framework! I feel inspired to define my spring vision against these 5 elements. I love fall and winter dressing and struggle with spring and summer, so this will help me break it down. Love the culottes outfits with the tall boots!
Really enjoyed your feast. I love voluminous triangular shapes in clothes. Dressing for the live you live definitely means you get more wear from your clothes. And I think you can lean into a bit of ”more”. Those that love you, love it either way you. Those that don’t get it? Well that’s for them to process.
I fully get that. Not going with the flow can feel a bit risky but I have realised that I feel brighter and more fulfilled when I’m opting to play with self expression. I’m cheering you on.
Love your new rainboots! I've felt a pull for shorter skirts, but don't quite know what shape.
Thanks! I’m really into structured a-line shapes at the moment but still love a good bias cut.
Loved this and also inspired to find a pair of culottes again (remembering a less dramatic linen pair I had from Steven Alan, also circa 2016)

Repeating and modifying outfits is great! I’m sure I’ll be doing a lot of that in addition to playing with these new ideas.
And I totally get the transformative power of shoes. Looking forward to seeing how you style your boots!

Thank you! My mind really benefits from this kind of breakdown—I hope it helps you, too!

Thanks so much for reading! Doing “more” can feel intimidating and uncomfortable sometimes but it’s a creative muscle I’d love to strengthen.
