Lan — I always leave your retrospectives feeling like my brain’s been tidied. The way you make choices (and don’t make them) is so steady: style as a practice, not a binge!
Also, it’s weirdly comforting how universal the month can feel — toddler germs, low-grade fog, then a tiny uptick in energy and suddenly you remember you’re a person with taste. Cheering you on from my parallel timeline over here!
Thank you, Michelle! I don’t think I always get it right, but I’m glad I make time to tinker with style and play with wardrobe ideas. These small exercises in creativity do wonders for my sanity.
I’m liking the energy of May so far (knock on wood)! Cheering you on as well, friend! ❤️
Thank you for introducing me to the term sartorial legumes! I will be using it regularly now 😜 I have a fondness for bean-adjacent food specifically beansprouts and I love English garden peas. So it tracks for me to use this fab term.
Whenever I see anything in green and silk, I gravitate towards it like a moth to the flame. And yes! I blame THAT Atonement dress.
Beans are such versatile ingredients—so too should be our clothes! And excited to find a fellow Atonement fan. The movie AND book were everything to me as a 13-year-old.
I love the colours you've been playing with - the greens, blues and browns feel so lush and grounded at the same time. And very excited to see how your makes go...I saw a beautiful piece of vintage cotton damask last month and they would have been amazing with the pillowcase fabric trousers...now I wished I bought it. The tie-on pocket looks like a great project too.
We’ll see if I end up accomplishing everything on my list, but if I’m able to sew one wearable garment over the course of spring/summer, I’d count that as success! And that fabric sounds so lovely—I hope I’ll be lucky in finding some preloved textiles to play with.
Love this! Please share if you find a good pattern for the drawstring skirt! 🫶✨
Thanks! I was planning to just freehand it…will report back on how it goes! 😅

Can I ask where you got the adorable mary janes?! they are perfect
They’re Birkenstocks I got secondhand!
So many good pieces. For me May usually is the shoppiest month. Curious to see if it’ll be the same this year.
The color story is incredible.
